With the convergence of major interstates, railroads, seaports and airports, our region is a major freight transportation hub for Florida and the Southeast. Over 80 million tons of freight are transported throughout the region by truck, rail, air and water. Our airports, cruise terminal and passenger rail access serve travel and tourism needs as well.

As our economy becomes more global, our needs for infrastructure improvements to accommodate freight and passenger activity will increase as well. The North Florida TPO studies these trends and issues to identify needs, develop solutions and incorporate supportive projects in the Transportation Improvement Program and Long Range Transportation Plan.
