Transit

Mass transit is an integral and expanding part of our transportation system. It is a critical tool for economic development by connecting people and jobs. Transit also provides options for those who can't or don't want to drive every day, while reducing congestion and auto emissions.

Public transit services in our area are operated by the Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA). JTA operates bus service throughout Duval County, with shuttle services connecting to Baker, Clay and Putnam Counties. JTA also offers free Downtown Trolley service and the Skyway automated transit system serving the North and Southbank areas. A rapid transit system encompassing approximately 29 miles of transitways with 27 stations is under development. For more information on JTA's current services and future plans, please visit the JTA web site.

The Sunshine Bus Company, a division of the St. Johns County Council on Aging, operates in St. Johns County from St. Augustine to connections with the JTA bus system in Jacksonville Beach.
