Freight

With the convergence of major interstates, railroads, seaports and airports, our region is a major freight transportation hub for Florida and the Southeast. Over 80 million tons of freight are transported throughout the First Coast by truck, rail, air and water. As our economy becomes more global, our needs for infrastructure improvements to accommodate freight activity will increase as well.

The North Florida TPO studies freight trends and issues to identify needs, develop solutions and incorporate freight-supportive projects in the Transportation Improvement Program and Long Range Transportation Plan.
