Carpool

You don’t need a car full of strangers to form a carpool. All you need is one other person who shares your general trip route and work schedule.

Our Ride Share FAQS will answer your questions and relieve your anxiety about carpooling.

Benefits of Carpooling

  • Sharing a ride with just one other person will cut your daily commute costs in half. Use the Commute Savings Calculator to see how much money you can save every month by carpooling, even if it’s only one day a week.
  • Carpooling three times a week (Saturdays and Sundays count) makes you eligible to receive a free taxi ride home (maximum of four times per calendar year) if you live and work within our five county region - Duval, Clay, Baker, Nassau and St. Johns County. Our Emergency Ride Home Program (ERH) is funded by the Florida Department of Transportation, so you don’t pay to participate in the program.
  • You could become eligible for preferential parking at work if your employer offers it as an incentive to its employees.
  • Reduces the effect of greenhouse gas emissions, which directly contribute to air pollution and climate change.
Get Started

Sign up to find a carpool. After you complete the simple commute profile, you can request a list of possible carpool partners from the Commuter Services computerized database. Privacy is important to us, so personal information is kept confidential. You’ll only see a person’s name, the phone number they choose to provide and work address.

Sign up to register an existing carpool. Registering your carpool with us allows you to apply for the ERH program.

Once you’re carpooling at least three days a week and are registered in our database, fill out the  ERH application to receive your ERH program ID. All ERH applicants must live and work within our five county region (Duval, Clay, Baker, Nassau and St. Johns Counties). If you’re trying to find or start a carpool you can also post a message on our Commuter Message Board.
