Commuter Services

The North Florida TPO sponsors the Commuter Services program while the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) funds it.

Our goal is to help:

  • Commuters find new ways to get to work, save time and money, lower stress and improve their health and productivity.
  • Employers provide additional cost-saving benefits to increase morale and retain employees, trim overhead costs and attract new employees.
  • North Florida residents reduce traffic congestion and improve air quality by decreasing the number of vehicles on the road during peak driving times.

It’s easy to get started. If you’re a commuter:

  1. Click here to see what your estimated monthly and yearly commuting costs are when you drive your own vehicle to work.
  2. Use the Related Links on this page to learn about alternative ways to get to work.
  3. Choose one of the following options:

Sign up to find a carpool. After you complete the simple commute profile, you can request a list of possible carpool partners from the Commuter Services computerized database. Privacy is important to us, so personal information is kept confidential. You’ll only see a person’s name, the phone number they choose to provide, and work address.

Register an existing carpool. If you’re already carpooling to work three days a week you’ll gain an extra benefit by registering with us so you can apply for our free Emergency Ride Home (ERH) program.

Register here if you bicycle or walk to work three days a week so you can apply for the free ERH program.

    4.   Once you’re bicycling, walking or carpooling to work at           least three days a week, and are registered in our           database, fill out the ERH application. All ERH           applicants must live and work within our five county           region (Duval, Clay, Baker, Nassau
          and St. Johns Counties).
