According to AAA, during 2008, if you commuted to work by car, you could expect to spend about $54.10 for your total vehicle expenses for every 100 miles you drove.
Here’s your opportunity to calculate how much you can save by using an alternative mode of transportation at least one day a week.
Enter your driving information into the table below. Use the TAB key to move to the next field and SHIFT+TAB to go to the previous field. Leave the current figures in Fields E and F because they’re based on the Automobile Association of America's "Your Driving Costs 2008."
Once you’ve seen how much you’re spending a month for your current commute, you can calculate savings by decreasing the number of days per month you normally drive to work. For example, if you normally drive to work 20 days a month but want to see how much money you’d save by sharing a ride to work with a co-worker twice a week, you’d enter the number 12 in Field B instead of 20 (based on a four week month).
